Colour Isn't Absolute — It's Affected by What's Underneath It
The colour you see isn't just a property of the ink itself. It's the result of light hitting the ink, passing through it (to varying degrees depending on the ink's opacity), reflecting off whatever is underneath, and bouncing back to your eye. This means the surface underneath the ink genuinely affects the colour you perceive, even when the ink itself hasn't changed at all.
